FAQs

Why should I sponsor a child? What difference does it make?

Sponsorship gives you the opportunity to bring hope into the life of a child. By sponsoring a child, you can help meet the critical needs of a hurting child, show him/her someone cares, and communicate the value and potential God has given him/her. You can offer lasting hope and a brighter future for a child living in extreme poverty.

What makes FH’s child sponsorship unique?

FH’s sponsorship strategy is geared toward empowering and equipping families, the local church and the leadership of the community to meet the needs of their children. FH focuses on long-term solutions – strengthening the families and communities in which the children live. The FH staff develops specific plans in each community that address the spiritual, educational, health and emotional needs of every child. Your monthly pledge will help meet the critical needs of the child you sponsor as well as other children in the community.

Does my donation go directly to my child’s family?

Our mission is to develop families and communities so that they will work together to advance toward their God-given potential. As such, your donations are never given directly to your sponsored child or family. This would promote an unhealthy dependency and we could not assure you that your money is being put to good use. Rather, our field staff manages your contributions to produce our Child Development Programs.

How does my child directly benefit from my donation?

Your sponsored child and their family receive the benefits the program offers through your support – all toward the goal of bringing about transformation in their lives and in the community. In order to manage efficient, reliable programs that benefit your sponsored child and family, our field staff depends on your consistent financial support.

How can I know that FH is financially accountable?

FH exceeds the standards of several watchdog groups, including the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability, the Association of Evangelical Relief and Development Organizations and others.
