Meet the Staff

Marlen Libel Rivas Santos

Marlen Libel Rivas Santos is one of the Community Level Staff members working in the Child Development Program. This is her testimony. "I was born in the community of Santa Rosa de Las Parrales in the county of Malpaisillo, Nicaragua. I am finishing my degree in Social Work at the UNAN-Leon. I am an active member in my church, Getsemani Assemblies of God. From a very young age I have felt a calling to work with the children of Nicaragua. I previously worked with a Compassion International church program. Now, I’m with Food for the Hungry as a Community Level Staff in the Chinandega area.”

Juan de Dios Silva

Juan de Dios Silva is a Community Level Staff member. He was born in the community of Tololar. He is a Christian and serves in his church as a deacon. Juan is married and has four children, 2 boys and 2 girls. He decided to work with FH because he has a great interest in the well being Nicaraguan children and has a passion to walk with the poor and vulnerable. Juan also loves the opportunity FH gives him to contribute to and collaborate with the expansion of God's kingdom through his actions and testimony.

Carol Dannenberg

Carol Dannenberg is the Health Program Coordinator.  

Nathan Sandahl

Nathan Sandahl is the Interim Country Director. Nathan grew up in Ecuador, where his parents were missionaries. Nathan earned his degree in Sociology, and later completed the Human Needs and Global Resources program at Wheaton College (IL). After college, Nathan served in various roles with FH in Guatemala for six years prior to moving to Nicaragua in July 2006 with his wife Cory. They have two children, Bryan and Cynthia.
