The Baptist: The Witness to the Word
February 7th, 2010 | Dennis Miller | The Baptist: The Witness to the Word - 2 of 5
Today we continue our study of the life and message of John the Baptist. Although it was clear that John pointed toward Jesus, even some of John’s followers rejected Jesus as the Messiah. We will be reminded of what it takes to become a child of God; a concept that many still don’t understand.
The Baptist: The Word
January 31st, 2010 | Dennis Miller | The Baptist: The Word - 1 of 5
Today we begin our new series by examining the first chapter and verse of the Gospel of John. Although the focus is Jesus, for the next five weeks we will talk about the man who “led the way” for Him, John the Baptist. Over the next few weeks, we will study the ministry of John the Baptist and how God used him greatly. Hopefully, we will also learn some good lessons about our role in the Kingdom today.
John, the Disciple and His Gospel: The Gospel of John
January 24th, 2010 | Dennis Miller | John, the Disciple and His Gospel: The Gospel of John
Today we begin a two-year study of the Gospel of John. However, before we dig in to the details of the book, we need to look at an overview of the Gospel so we have the big picture. Why did John write the book and to whom? What did he hope that people gleaned from its message? Let's answer these questions and discover why the Gospel of John is really the Gospel of Jesus as God.
Going Against the Flow: 3 Resolutions
January 17th, 2010 | Dennis Miller | Going Against the Flow: 3 Resolutions - 3 of 3
Today we’ll conclude our three-week series on Going Against the Flow. This week we will learn about three resolutions (things we must resolve to do) in the new year if we want to live differently than the world.
Going Against the Flow: 3 Actions
January 10th, 2010 | Rod Embree, Kent Koteskey, and Dennis Miller | Going Against the Flow: 3 Actions - 2 of 3
Last Sunday we kicked off the new year by examining three attitudes that mark the heart of a believer. This week we take that another step further by putting those attitudes into action. Today we’ll examine three actions that mark the life of a believer, and we’ll challenge each other to adopt these actions in the coming twelve months.
Going Against the Flow: 3 Attitudes
January 3rd, 2010 | Dennis Miller | Going Against the Flow: 3 Attitudes - 1 of 3
Today we begin a three-part series on how to live differently than the world. Jesus told us to be salt and light. Paul told us not to be conformed but to be transformed. And yet, most Christians don’t live differently than unbelieving friends or co-workers. How can we change that? I think it takes three attitudes, three actions, and three resolutions. Today we will learn about the three attitudes that Christians MUST incorporate into their lives.
Top 10 List from 2009
December 27th, 2009 | Dennis Miller | Top 10 List from 2009
Today we will look back on the lessons we studied during the ten different sermon series from 2009. We’ll review the most important things that we learned and ask ourselves, “Have we put them into practice?”
Christmas Eve at Emmanuel
December 24th, 2009 | Dennis Miller | Christmas Eve at Emmanuel
As we celebrate the birth of the Messiah, today we are especially challenged by the possible innkeeper's dilemma when there was no room for this child in his inn. What about your own dilemma? Is there room for Jesus Christ in your cluttered, unfinished, or perhaps even broken inn?
The Root, the Shoot, and the Fruit: The Fruit
December 20th, 2009 | Dennis Miller | The Root, the Shoot, and the Fruit: The Fruit - 4 of 4
Today we finish our series by looking at the “fruit” of Isaiah 11:1. This fruit is, of course, Jesus as He was announced to the shepherds by the angels in Bethlehem. Their announcement is one of the greatest descriptions of the FRUIT that we have in our Bibles, and we will seek to understand it more completely.
The Root, the Shoot, and the Fruit: The Shoot
December 13th, 2009 | Dennis Miller | The Root, the Shoot, and the Fruit: The Shoot - 3 of 4
Today we see something incredible – that the Root and the Shoot are the same person! But how can one person be both? In our look at the Shoot, we will learn that Jesus is not only the present and future king, but the One who deserves our worship. We will also study the meaning of the prophecies relating to the Branch.
The Root, the Shoot, and the Fruit: The Root
December 6th, 2009 | Dennis Miller | The Root, the Shoot, and the Fruit: The Root - 2 of 4
Today we will look at various Scriptures to learn about the history and importance of the olive tree, and to help us better understand the purpose for and significance of Isaiah 11. Just as the root ensures the regeneration of the tree, so too does the promise of God for future generations.
The Root, the Shoot, and the Fruit: The Family Tree
November 29th, 2009 | Dennis Miller | The Root, the Shoot, and the Fruit: The Family Tree - 1 of 4
Today we begin the study of the “Olive Tree” that was Israel and the “Shoot” that would sprout from this tree. But before we can learn about the stump, we must learn about the tree. Throughout Scriptures, Israel is called an olive tree – a positive metaphor displaying the fruitfulness of that line. However, Israel and the line of David slipped into complacency and sin, resulting in God “cutting off the tree”. Today we will not only learn about the tree and the steps that led to it being cut down, but we will also discover many correlations between the nation of Israel and our own.
Finishing Strong: Thankfulness
November 22nd, 2009 | Dennis Miller | Finishing Strong: Thankfulness - 4 of 4
If King David would have sat down to a Thanksgiving table near the end of his life, what would have been his thanksgiving prayer? He probably would have been thankful for food, good health, and his family – but from what we know about his heart, David’s prayer of thankfulness would most likely have been more for the people God placed around him than for his personal well-being. Today we’re going to look at David’s mighty men: the people that God placed around him to help make him righteous and successful. Who has God placed in your life to do these things?
Finishing Strong: Final Days and Final Words
November 15th, 2009 | Dennis Miller | Finishing Strong: Final Days and Final Words - 3 of 4
Today we see the final moments of the life of King David. In this lesson we will see his heart’s desire to worship as well as his love for the Lord and his people. We will also be reminded that we have a “purpose during our generation.”
Finishing Strong: Preparing for the Future
November 8th, 2009 | Dennis Miller | Finishing Strong: Preparing for the Future - 2 of 4
Today we do something a bit unusual by looking at seven chapters of Scripture all at once! In doing so, we follow David’s intricate and amazing plans for the temple. We find that David cared so much about what happened to Israel and the worship of God after he was gone that he devoted the remainder of his life to this legacy. Do we care about the next generation and their walk with Christ enough to really DO something about it? Are we taking responsibility for what happens after we are gone?
Finishing Strong: In Whom Do You Trust?
November 1st, 2009 | Dennis Miller | Finishing Strong: In Whom Do You Trust? - 1 of 4
Today we begin the final series on the life of King David as we study his desire to FINISH STRONG. Today’s story covers yet another account of David’s disobedience as we look at how his trust in the Lord remained strong despite the consequences. In this very unusual story, we learn a lot about what is expected from people who follow Him.
Dealing With Sin: The Continuation after Sin
October 25th, 2009 | Dennis Miller | Dealing With Sin: The Continuation after Sin - 4 of 4
Many Christians allow sin to paralyze their lives and their walk with the Lord. Today we are reminded that life continues after we sin. In this passage we see that David doesn’t spend his life looking back, but rather learns from his mistakes and looks to the future. In turn, we will learn that our lives and faith can still be effective even after we sin.
Dealing With Sin: The Confession of Sin
October 18th, 2009 | Matt Kennedy | Dealing With Sin: The Confrontation of Sin - 3 of 4
It's never easy to face difficult things, especially when it means facing our own sin. Today we will be discussing the importance of confession, the seriousness of sin, and what happens to those who are willing to admit to God that they have missed the mark.
Dealing With Sin: The Consequences of Sin
October 11th, 2009 | Dennis Miller | Dealing With Sin: The Confrontation of Sin - 2 of 4
Continuing our series on how to deal with sin, today we come to the period in David’s life when he pays for his transgressions. Despite his sin and ours, God loves us, forgives us, and can still use us. However, just because He forgives, does not mean He takes away the consequences. It is time to accept the payment required for our sin and serve God in whatever way possible.
Dealing With Sin: The Confrontation of Sin
October 4th, 2009 | Dennis Miller | Dealing With Sin: The Confrontation of Sin - 1 of 4
Today we begin a four-part sermon series on the topic of how to deal with our sin. The Bible is clear that a sinful nature is common to all of us. Despite its presence in our lives, the Bible also explains how we can properly process our sin so that it will not destroy us or make us unusable in God’s Church. In this first sermon, we will study the ways we are confronted and our response. We will close with Holy Communion which reminds us of our sin and God’s forgiveness.
Summit of Missions and Outreach: Thirst
September 27th, 2009 | George Verwer | Summit of Missions and Outreach: Thirst
Water is something we take for granted quite easily. Long hot showers. Leaving the tap running while we brush our teeth. Cleaning the car regularly. Even watering the lawn. Water is something we take for granted. Until we really need it but don’t have it. Perhaps that’s why Jesus chose water to be the centerpiece for an enduring lesson about spiritual need in the lives of everyday people.

The Ups and Downs of Life: When You Think You're "Up" but You're "Down"
September 13th, 2009 | Dennis Miller | The Ups and Downs of Life: When You Think You're "Up" but You're "Down" - 4 of 4
Today we conclude our UPS AND DOWNS OF LIFE series by looking at the event that created the greatest conflict of David’s life. We will study the chapter to see what led to David’s sin and we will learn about the typical pattern of sin in our lives – and hopefully, how to avoid it.
The Ups and Downs of Life: Leading in Good Times
September 6th, 2009 | Dennis Miller | The Ups and Downs of Life: Leading in Good Times - 3 of 4
Today we’ll learn that when life is good it can get even better if we handle ourselves appropriately, but it can also change for the worse in a moment. We have to be ready for whatever comes our way.
The Ups and Downs of Life: When Life is Good
August 30th, 2009 | Dennis Miller | The Ups and Downs of Life: When Life is Good - 2 of 4
Today we are reminded that when life is good it is so easy to think only of ourselves. David, on the other hand, thought about others and about keeping an old promise. It is this way of thinking that shows why David was “a man after God’s own heart.”
The Ups and Downs of Life: The Best of Days
August 23th, 2009 | Dennis Miller | The Ups and Downs of Life: The Best of Days - 1 of 4
Today we begin a four-week study of the easiest period of David’s life. Although many people can deal with tough times, we will learn that it takes a special person to handle the best of times. We will learn how to handle...and how not to handle...the good times of life!
Back to School Sunday: An Everyday Faith
August 16th, 2009 | Jason Holliday | Back to School Sunday: An Everyday Faith
When it comes to passing on a legacy of faith to the next generation, good intentions aren’t enough. Today, we will take a look at Deuteronomy 6:4-9 to see that It takes an EVERYDAY FAITH to make it happen.
The Lord is My Shepherd: Promise
August 9th, 2009 | Dennis Miller | Series: The Lord is My Shepherd - 5 of 5
Today we conclude our series on the 23rd Psalm with His Promise. This series has reminded us that although we can have something memorized, it is possible to not really know it. In verse 6 we learn that God pursues us throughout our entire lives. He cares so much that He won’t let us out of His sight!
The Lord is My Shepherd: Provision
August 2nd, 2009 | Dennis Miller | Series: The Lord is My Shepherd - 4 of 5

He Led Them Toward Prayer
July 5th, 2009 | Dennis Miller | Series: He Led Them - 5 of 5
How do you handle it when God says “no” to your requests? Today we’ll experience a new and challenging perspective on prayer! David teaches us how to respond and how to be redirected in our purpose. It is a wonderful reminder that God is GOD and we are His servants!
He Led Them Toward Worship
June 28th, 2009 | Dennis Miller | Series: He Led Them - 4 of 5
Today we are reminded about true worship. Worship isn’t only about singing and praying...it’s about what you really value and how you express that. David wanted to articulate to his people that God was his object of praise. While he went about it the wrong way at first, he gets it right rather quickly as he models the beauty of worship.
He Led Them Toward Hope
June 21th, 2009 | Dennis Miller | Series: He Led Them - 3 of 5
Today we learn that it takes a true leader to turn the hearts of people from despair to hope. We will see HOW David provided hope for the people of Israel and we will learn important lessons for our own leadership. We will also learn about the Holy City of Jerusalem and why it is so important – even today!
He Led Them Toward Trust
June 14th, 2009 | Dennis Miller | Series: He Led Them - 2 of 5
Today we learn that trust is essential for good leadership and we find that David was trustworthy. In this very unusual chapter of Scripture, we see that David was trusted in both his words and actions. We conclude by looking at our own trust issues and ask ourselves the following questions: Can I be trusted? Do I trust others?
He Led Them Toward Unity
June 7th, 2009 | Dennis Miller | Series: He Led Them - 1 of 5
Today we begin a new series about leadership. Saul is dead and David begins his reign as the new king. Although David is only 30 years old, he shows his maturity through how he brings the people together over the first few years of his leadership. Today we see that although there is much violence during this time, David seeks peace and unity...the first step towards leading people!
Your Enemy Deserves A Good Name
May 31st, 2009 | Dennis Miller | Series: Give Your Enemy What He Deserves Series - 4 of 4
Today we learn that just because someone is your enemy doesn’t make them a bad person. Maybe it is just a conflict between the two of you! Why should a person’s reputation or name be ruined because YOU have trouble with them? And even if your enemy is someone “everyone” seems to struggle with, you still don’t have the right to ruin his name or damage his reputation. Today we take a lesson from David on how to properly treat an enemy’s reputation.
Your Enemy Deserves A Second Chance
May 24th, 2009 | Dennis Miller | Series: Give Your Enemy What He Deserves Series - 3 of 4
Today we will learn that forgiveness and “a second chance” are not really the same thing. David gave Saul a second chance...and through David’s example, we will try to determine how to know when another chance is deserved. Hopefully David’s incredible maturity will awe and inspire us to find ways to give others a second chance.
Your Enemy Deserves Forgiveness
May 17th, 2009 | Dennis Miller | Series: Give Your Enemy What He Deserves Series - 2 of 4
Today we learn about David’s willingness to forgive after making a bold statement of retaliation to his men. We will see how the ability to forgive can change a very difficult situation forever. Then we will be reminded that we need to forgive even if we aren’t asked for forgiveness.
Your Enemy Deserves Respect
May 10th, 2009 | Dennis Miller | Series: Give Your Enemy What He Deserves Series - 1 of 4
Today we begin a new series that will help us understand what made David “stand out” from others. One of his greatest attributes was his ability to treat his enemies in a way that seemed contrary to human nature – with love! Today we look at the first of four gifts that David gave his enemies: Respect. In the next few weeks, we will learn about three other ways that David showed love to those who didn’t love him. In the end, we’ll see that many people are remembered and admired for the way they treat their enemies.
The Sacrifice of Success
May 3rd, 2009 | Kent Koteskey | Series: Surviving Success - 3 of 3
Today we’re talking about the sacrifices of success...but before we get too far into it, we need to make sure we understand exactly what we’re talking about here. Nope – We’re not talking about all the things that we might have to give up in order to achieve success. We’re looking at the things that we might have to sacrifice BECAUSE we’ve been granted success. It seems backward, but can be incredibly rewarding when we seek God’s success instead of our own.
The Sorrow of Success
April 26th, 2009 | Dennis Miller | Series: Surviving Success - 2 of 3
Today we continue our series on Surviving Success as we learn three important lessons: that our success can bring us sorrow – mostly because of the response of others; that there are several steps to follow in order to alleviate that sorrow; and that God understands our sorrow.
The Surprises of Success
April 19th, 2009 | Dennis Miller | Series: Surviving Success - 1 of 3
Today we begin a new series on how to handle success in our lives. David found success against the giant Goliath which led him to much more success. How we handle success is as important as how we handle failure...and we’ll learn that most people don’t handle either well. We’ll also look at how to handle the good and bad components of success and discover some secrets for success in our lives.
Fun With Riddles
April 12th, 2009 | Dennis Miller | Easter Weekend
Today we celebrate the resurrection by looking at a passage of Scripture that would not normally be used on Easter. We see Jesus being questioned by people for the sake of tricking Him into making a mistake. But we also see His great wisdom. We’ll learn that Jesus declared Himself to be David’s son and David’s Lord and we will see that His answers to “riddles” (along with His own riddle) show Him to be more than a mere man. If He is God, then the resurrection is not hard to believe!
The Things I Would Never Say
April 10th, 2009 | Dennis Miller | Good Friday Service
Note: There is only the sermon audio and bulletin for this service
The Son of David
April 5th, 2009 | Dennis Miller | Series: Holy Week - 1 of 2
Today we begin a short series for Holy Week entitled Son of David. We will see that Jesus was called the Son of David and learn the importance of that title. Secondly, we will learn that instead of being disappointed when our expectations are not met, we should be thankful.
The Product of the Battle
March 29th, 2009 | Dennis Miller | Series: Fighting Giants - 3 of 3
Today we finish our series on Fighting Giants by looking at what happens after the battle is won. Many times, we don’t realize that even though the “giant” is dead, there are still lessons to be learned. In this section of the Scripture we are reminded of David’s attitude and wisdom – even as a young man, and how we should seek the same attitude.
The People of the Battle
March 22nd, 2009 | Dennis Miller | Series: Fighting Giants - 2 of 3
We continue our FIGHTING GIANTS series by looking at THE PEOPLE OF THE STORY. We will learn the next four lessons for fighting the giants in our lives. It is a good idea to identify your "giants" before coming to the service so that you can "put feet on the message."
Check out our Fighting Fear special video, download it here
The Place of the Battle
March 15th, 2009 | Dennis Miller | Series: Fighting Giants - 1 of 3
We begin a new series called FIGHTING GIANTS as we study the famous story of David and Goliath. Over this three-week series, we will learn 10 important lessons about dealing with "giants" in our lives. This Sunday, we look at the place of the battle and its importance to the story and we learn our first three lessons.
God so loved the world: Do You?
March 8th, 2009 | Charles Lake
The Anointing of David
March 1st, 2009 | Dennis Miller | Series: An Introduction to David - 2 of 2
Today we see that God doesn’t judge people like we do. He is able to look at our heart and determine our faithfulness and willingness to follow Him. We will see that most people judge by outward appearances, but that is futile. Then we’ll ask ourselves, “what does MY heart look like to God?”
An Introduction to David
February 22nd, 2009 | Dennis Miller | Series: An Introduction to David - 1 of 2
Today we begin a 10-month study of the life of King David. We will learn much about his heart for God, his courage, his leadership and even his ability to deal with sin in his life. In today’s study, we will do an overview of his life and see his incredible influence, even in our day. We will also see why God was able to use him in such incredible ways and then ask the question: “Do I possess these qualities so that God can use me?”
...Pray!
February 15th, 2009 | Dennis Miller | Series: Don't Fight Naked - 7 of 7
Today we conclude the DON’T FIGHT NAKED series by studying prayer. After putting on six pieces of armor, Paul says “...and Pray.” A Christian who wears the armor without praying is just “all dressed up with no place to go.” Our focus in this message will be the four “alls” of prayer and the unity of prayer.
The Sword of the Spirit
February 8th, 2009 | Dennis Miller | Series: Don't Fight Naked - 6 of 7
Today we learn about the only piece of armor that can be used offensively – the Sword. We will see that this is probably one of the most misunderstood pieces of armor that Paul teaches about, and yet it is the only one that is explained. Go figure. Although many people probably think they know what the sword really is, many haven’t looked carefully enough to REALLY understand. We will learn about the purpose of the sword and how to use it in our daily lives.
The Helmet of Salvation
February 1st, 2009 | Matt Kennedy | Series: Don't Fight Naked - 5 of 7
Today we continue our study of the armor of God by looking at the Helmet of Salvation. We will examine the difference between the gift of salvation and the Helmet of Salvation. Then we will see how the helmet: reminds us of who we are in Christ; guards our minds against the enemy’s attacks; and, helps us remember where our hope is found.
The Shield of Faith
January 25th, 2009 | Dennis Miller | Series: Don't Fight Naked - 4 of 7
Today we look at the first piece of armor that is “taken up as needed” – the Shield of Faith. The first three pieces of armor are worn constantly (the belt, the breastplate, and the shoes). The Shield of Faith helps us deal with the temptations to doubt and we learn we can extinguish ALL of these when we use the shield wisely. We will learn how the shield was used in ancient times and how we, as Christians, can put it to good use spiritually
The Shoes of the Gospel of Peace
January 18th, 2009 | Dennis Miller | Series: Don't Fight Naked - 3 of 7
As we learned already, the first three pieces of armor are worn daily while the second set of three pieces are used only as needed. Today we learn about the third piece of armor – the shoes of the Gospel of Peace and their importance to a soldier. We will learn what the “gospel of peace” is and we will make sure that we are really wearing our “shoes.”
The Breastplate of Righteousness
January 11th, 2009 | Dennis Miller | Series: Don't Fight Naked - 2 of 7
Today we continue our DON’T FIGHT NAKED series by looking at the second piece of armor that is worn daily by a Christian – the Breastplate of Righteousness. We will first look at what the word righteousness really means and then we will try to understand why it is designed to cover the heart. Finally, we will do a spiritual EKG and determine the condition of our hearts!
The Belt of Truth
January 4th, 2009 | Dennis Miller | Series: Don't Fight Naked - 1 of 7
There are very few topics that are better for starting a new year, than the Belt of Truth. If we would “gird ourselves” with this belt as we begin 2009, we would have very few self-made troubles. Today we will learn about the overall purpose of the Armor of God and then about the Belt specifically. Then we will close our service with Holy Communion.
Finding Balance
December 28th, 2008 | Dennis Miller
Today we study the topic of balance. Honestly, balance can be mis-represented by many. We are going to learn today that balance is never the goal but a way to help us reach the goal. We will see that Jesus was in balance and He wanted to help others find that balance. We will also look at ways to find balance in our lives in 2009.
Christmas Eve Service
December 24th, 2008 | Dennis Miller
So What DID Mary Know?
December 21st, 2008 | Dennis Miller
Have you ever wondered what Mary, the mother of Jesus, really understood about her son Jesus? Well, the Bible gives us many answers and reminds us that even though we might be on “the inside” we still cannot understand the mind or the plan of God completely. We will see that when Mary didn’t know the answer, she had faith in her Lord and trusted Him.
God’s Gift to Children
December 14th, 2008 | Dennis Miller | Series: Home for the Holidays - 3 of 3
Today we conclude the HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS series by looking at the responsibility of children that are living at home. We learn that for a home to function properly, everyone must do their part. For children, it means to obey because as Christians you want to honor the Lord! We will learn more about the “how” of obeying in this sermon.
God’s Gift to Husbands
December 7th, 2008 | Dennis Miller | Series: Home for the Holidays - 2 of 3
Today we will look at the role of the Christian husband as we continue to see that God has given “gifts” to each member of the family to ensure order and peace at home. Just as God gave “gifts” to wives, he also has a specific plan for husbands. Hopefully, this series will be very practical and will help to generate more peace in our families as we celebrate the birth of the Prince of Peace.
God’s Gift to Wives
November 30th, 2008 | Dennis Miller | Series: Home for the Holidays - 1 of 3
Today we start a short series on the home. We will learn that God has given “gifts” to each member of the family to ensure order and peace within the home. We will look at the role of the Christian wife as we see that God’s plan is truly a gift when we understand how it works. Hopefully, this series will be very practical and will help to generate more peace in our homes as we celebrate the birth of the Prince of Peace.
Are You Thankful in ALL Things?
November 23rd, 2008 | Dennis Miller
Sometimes we find it difficult to truly give thanks for all God has given us. Today we see how Paul contrasts thankfulness with characteristics we should possess as believers, and learn that we should live our lives in such a way that we are “always giving thanks to God the Father for everything.”
Stop "Dressing" Like Pagans
November 16th, 2008 | Dennis Miller | Series: Stop It! - 4 of 4
Today we finish the STOP IT series and chapter 4 of Ephesians by seeing that we are to “dress” like Christians. Paul uses an analogy common to all of us – getting dressed and undressed – to explain how Christians ought to act. We will look at each “garment” that Paul tells us to wear and hopefully make a commitment to “dressing for success” as a believer.
Stop Being Deceitful
November 9th, 2008 | Dennis Miller | Series: Stop It! - 3 of 4
Today we are reminded that “what we think in our hearts is who we really are!” We will learn that people often deceive themselves and others around them in an attempt to be happy or content. But, deception never brings happiness – only pain. We will focus on “putting off” the old self and “putting on” the mind of Christ as we continue our series on STOP IT.
Stop Being a Baby!
November 2nd, 2008 | Dennis Miller | Series: Stop It! - 2 of 4
Today we continue our STOP IT series by looking at Paul’s plea for all Christians to GROW UP! Paul explains that we have everything we need to become the mature Believers that the Lord intended – and if we do so, we can make a tremendous impact in our world. The passage reminds us that it was never the plan to be saved and SIT, but to SERVE!
Stop Being Divisive
October 26th, 2008 | Dennis Miller | Series: Stop It! - 1 of 4
God wants the world to see us as we were intended to be: one united body. But too many times we are prideful, rough and impatient with each other. We just need to STOP IT! If we don’t, it will be difficult to move forward in our Christian walk.
Power
October 19th, 2008 | Kent Koteskey | Series: Unclaimed - 6 of 6
In sixteen days we’ll help choose someone to ascend to the highest office in our nation. For the next four years, he will hold what many consider to be the most powerful position in the most powerful nation in the world. And yet Ephesians 3 shows us that there’s a power already available to you and I that transcends all of the authority our country can muster.
Perception
October 12, 2008 | Kent Koteskey | Series: Unclaimed - 5 of 6
The election is only a few short weeks away. The economy can best be described as uncertain. We find ourselves in a time that demands smart choices with our dollars and our votes. But even beyond those two pressing concerns that we all share in common, there are many other issues that touch home more closely for each of us as individuals. Where can we turn for the wisdom that is clearly required of us? Ephesians 3 points us toward the gift of PERCEPTION that too often lays unclaimed in our lives.
Peace
October 5th, 2008 | Kent Koteskey | Series: Unclaimed - 4 of 6
If you’ve trusted Christ with your heart, then you’re a part of the family of God. That’s exciting! But just like any family, the fun times can occasionally be interrupted by some fairly significant tensions that arise simply because we’re all human beings. Differences are bound to arise, but how we deal with those differences allows outsiders to see the true nature of the God we serve.
Pardon
September 28th, 2008 | Kent Koteskey | Series: Unclaimed - 3 of 6
Maybe we broke the neighbor’s window as a part of a baseball game when we were a kid. Or maybe we got caught stealing cookies when they were cooling after having just emerged from the oven. Or maybe it’s been something much more serious that we got caught doing wrong. Wherever your offense falls on the “serious” spectrum, we’ve all done something wrong and have been concerned with the punishment we were about to receive. Imagine if, right when the sentence was to be handed down, someone else stepped in to take the punishment for us.
Partnership
September 21st, 2008 | Kent Koteskey | Series: Unclaimed - 2 of 6
As we continue to remind ourselves of the “unclaimed” riches that are ours as children of the King, we examine what it means to share a PARTNERSHIP with Him. In our earthly life we tend to draw our identity from whatever group we’re a part of...the football team, the sales group, etc. But when it comes to our spiritual walk, we sometimes try to go it alone. Christ is our partner, as are the countless believers who surround us!
Promise
September 14th, 2008 | Kent Koteskey | Series: Unclaimed - 1 of 6
Today we start a new series about the things that Christians possess in Christ but often don’t claim or take advantage of: Promise, Partnership, Pardon, Peace, Perception, and Power.
Unity Sunday
September 7th, 2008 | Dennis Miller | An Overview of the Book of Ephesians
Today we begin a series on the Book of Ephesians and a study of the topic of Unity. We will learn that we should REJOICE in our blessings in Christ Jesus and that we should be RENEWED in our thinking. Today we will look at the entire book and then next week, start a verse-by-verse study of this letter of Paul the Apostle. This study will take us into the first month of the new year.
As For Me And My House...
August 31st, 2008 | Dennis Miller | Finish Strong - 3 of 3
We began our study of Joshua on the second Sunday of January. Today we complete that study by reading the last chapter. In this section, we see that Joshua wants the people to make a commitment that they will stick with – and he is clever in his methods of doing so. We will learn the value of making a decision at the right time and finding ways to remember it when the temptations stand before us.
