Today we read one of the most famous and exciting stories in the entire Bible – a contest between Elijah and 450 prophets of Baal. This passage shows us that while we should strive to live in harmony with others, we should never compromise or water down our beliefs in order to secure a sense of peace. Elijah makes it clear to the Israelites that while they have a choice to believe in God or not, there is no gray area or room for society’s idea of political correctness.
