OUR HISTORY
The College Park United Brethren in Christ Church in
Huntington started Emmanuel Community Church in 1971
as a church plant. The church began in a school in Aboite
township and several years later built it’s first building,
(a sanctuary, small fellowship and kitchen).
John Edwards pastored the church from 1973 through 1983.
In 1984, Brent Birdsall became the church's second pastor
and he continued through May, 1988. Dr. David Rahn, a lay
person in the church led the church through the remainder
of that year. God blessed the church with continued
growth throughout this period.
Dennis Miller became the pastor in January of 1989. The
leadership adopted a focus of "His Word-Our Walk," with
a heart for equipping people. In 1993 a fellowship hall
and classrooms were built to handle the growing
congregation. In 1997, a 600-seat sanctuary was dedicated.
In 1999, 8 more acres were purchased with plans to
expand including a community center and counseling
center. The church is currently averaging 1200 in
attendance in three Sunday morning worship services
and has 7 full-time ministry staff.
